On Sunday, Aug. 16, His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo celebrated the Festal Mass of St. Dominic, patron saint of St. Dominic Parish, while joining parishioners in marking the 70th anniversary of the parish's establishment.

The celebration continued following Mass with a parish barbecue, children's games and raffle draws, bringing together parishioners and guests for a day of fellowship and thanksgiving.

The feast of St. Dominic provided an opportunity for the faithful to rejoice in the witness of their patron saint. St. Dominic remains a source of inspiration for the parish community, offering a model of faith rooted in prayer, preaching and service.  Dominic was a man who lived within a circle of prayer. He fearlessly spent his nights talking to God so that during the day, he could talk of God to a broken world.

This celebration was also a moment of grace for the parish marked by the presence of Cardinal Leo and over 400 parishioners to gave thanks to God for the many blessings bestowed upon the community throughout the past 70 years.  Seven decades of faith, service, and mission in this multicultural community.

The community gathered in thanksgiving for the many generations of faithful parishioners whose devotion, service and sacrifice have contributed to the growth and vitality of St. Dominic Parish. Special remembrance was also given to those who have gone before us in faith, whose legacy continues to inspire future generations.
